🥧 Old-Fashioned Custard Pie – Simple, Silky & Timeless

This Old-Fashioned Custard Pie is a sweet reminder of simpler times — made with just a few pantry staples, but so rich in flavor and comfort. 📝 Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2½ cups whole milk, warmed slightly
  • Freshly grated nutmeg (or ground nutmeg), for topping

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate. Flute or crimp the edges as desired.
2️⃣ In a bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla until well blended.
3️⃣ Slowly whisk in the warm milk (not hot!) until smooth and creamy.
4️⃣ Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie shell.
5️⃣ Sprinkle the top with a generous pinch of nutmeg.
6️⃣ Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center jiggles slightly.
7️⃣ Cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Serve chilled or room temp, plain or with a dollop of whipped cream!
