📝 Ingredients
For the Steaks:
- 1 lb ground beef
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt & pepper, to taste
For the Gravy:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt & pepper, to taste
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Mix the patties: In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4–5 oval patties.
2️⃣ Brown the steaks: In a large skillet over medium heat, sear the patties in a bit of oil for 3–4 minutes per side until browned (they don’t have to be fully cooked yet). Remove and set aside.
3️⃣ Make the gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter. Add onions and mushrooms and sauté until soft and golden, about 5–6 minutes.
4️⃣ Sprinkle in flour, stir, and cook for 1–2 minutes. Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
5️⃣ Return patties to the skillet and spoon gravy over them. Cover and simmer for 15–20 minutes, until the steaks are fully cooked and the gravy is thickened.
6️⃣ Serve hot over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice!
💡 Tips for Extra Flavor
- Add a splash of heavy cream for an extra rich gravy.
- Make a double batch of gravy – you’ll want it for sopping up with bread!
