These Ooey Gooey Bars have a chewy, buttery crust topped with a luscious cream cheese filling that bakes up golden, puffed, and irresistible. One bite and you’ll understand the name!

🛒 Ingredients

Crust Layer:
🍰 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
🥚 1 large egg
🧈 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Gooey Layer:
🧀 1 (8 oz) block cream cheese, softened
🥚 2 large eggs
🍬 1 tsp vanilla extract
🍬 1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter
🍬 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13″ baking dish or line with parchment paper.

2️⃣ Make the Crust:
In a bowl, mix cake mix, egg, and melted butter until thick and sticky. Press evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.

3️⃣ Prepare Gooey Layer:
In another bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs, vanilla, and melted butter. Gradually mix in powdered sugar until fully combined and creamy.

4️⃣ Layer & Bake:
Pour cream cheese mixture over the crust and spread evenly. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is just set (don’t overbake — it should jiggle a little).

5️⃣ Cool & Slice:
Let cool completely in the pan. Slice into bars and dust with extra powdered sugar if desired.
