Golden, nutty, buttery goodness packed into every gooey bite!
🍯 Ingredients
For the crust:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
For the filling:
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, browned
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups pecan halves or pieces
🍯 Instructions
1️⃣ Brown the butter:
In a saucepan, melt 1 cup butter over medium heat.
Continue cooking, swirling the pan, until it turns golden brown and smells nutty.
Remove from heat — this will be used for the crust.
2️⃣ Make the crust:
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, and the browned butter until crumbly.
Press into the bottom of the pan.
Bake for 15–18 minutes, until lightly golden.
3️⃣ Make the filling:
While the crust bakes, brown ¼ cup butter separately for the filling.
In a bowl, whisk together brown sugar, corn syrup, browned butter, eggs, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
Fold in the pecans.
4️⃣ Assemble and bake:
Pour the filling over the baked crust.
Spread evenly.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the filling is set and slightly golden on top.
5️⃣ Cool and cut:
Cool completely before slicing into bars.
Dust lightly with powdered sugar if you like for a pretty finish!
