Round steak braised low and slow in a tomato-onion gravy until melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
⭐ Ingredients:
- 2 lbs beef round steak (cut into serving-size pieces)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes (with juice)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Optional: 1/2 green bell pepper, sliced
👩🍳 Instructions:
1️⃣ Prep the Steak:
Combine flour, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish. Dredge each piece of steak in the mixture, coating well.
2️⃣ Brown the Meat:
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Add steak pieces and brown on both sides (about 3–4 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
3️⃣ Sauté the Veggies:
In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed. Sauté onions and garlic (and bell pepper if using) until softened.
4️⃣ Build the Sauce:
Add diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and paprika. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle simmer.
5️⃣ Simmer Low & Slow:
Return the browned steak to the pan, nestling it into the sauce.
Cover and simmer over low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until steak is fork-tender. Stir occasionally and add a splash of broth if needed.
6️⃣ Serve & Enjoy:
Serve hot over mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, or rice, spooning that rich tomato gravy over everything. 😋
